TKJ Productions is a Christian-based drama team focused on providing entertainment that uplifts and edifies. We strive to introduce Christ while providing entertainment that addresses life’s situations whether serious, humourous, or sensitive.
The team began its ministry in 2000 with its first production “Going Home”, a short play that raised the interest of Toronto audiences. It was apparent that the Toronto Christian community wanted a healthier alternative to the status quo.
In 2002, TKJ Productions introduced “The Cross”, a riveting and inspiring play about a young man, who, after making numerous poor choices, grasped the opportunity to reconnect with his first love through “The Cross”. This was the beginning of something good. In 2003, “It’s My Baby Now” opened at the St. Lawrence Theatre in downtown Toronto, and tickets for the show sold out days after the show was announced. The success of “It’s My Baby Now” encouraged many to follow the production team to its next successful production, “God Must Be Laughing”. Though these productions addressed serious family issues, the comical approach was a welcome medium to audiences. After presenting eight successful performances of “God Must Be Laughing”, it was time for the team to take on its next challenge. “Sing Baby Sing” was presented as a sequel to “It’s My Baby Now”. Again, the community responded favourably with its attendance.
In 2007, the team decided to change pace with the introduction of a comedy that has been labeled as the team’s most recognized piece of work to date. “Soul for the Lord, Body fi Miself” played to sold-out audiences in 2007 and again in 2008. This comical island-flavoured piece raised eyebrows as many in the entertainment industry embraced the talented team, realizing that TKJ Productions is here for the long haul.
The demand for this type of art in the community is evident by the number of ongoing requests for previous productions to be brought back to the stage. The commitment of each member of the team is evident as exhibited through the passion and zeal for a quality product. The cast, writers, directors, musicians, and general production team members have willingly given their time and energy without reservation to ensure that this ministry continues. There is more to come.
As you peruse the website, be assured that we are continually working on projects that will make a positive difference in our community. We will not always write productions that are loaded with spiritual messages, but you can be assured that the content will be of such that families can be entertained without fear of receiving messages inconsistent with our Christian beliefs. Ministry will remain the basis for our team’s existence. Thank you for visiting our site. May God bless you!
